The 45M barrel disruption creates a scarcity shock that empowers the latter. The market will see a flight to quality, but the definition of 'quality' may be perverted. It might not be the most decentralized network, but the one that is most compliant, most energy-efficient, and most willing to play ball with the authorities who control the power grid. The networks that survive won't be the ones with the most passionate communities; they'll be the ones that have built robust, low-energy consensus mechanisms and are willing to interoperate with the legacy financial system under strain.
